We are an association of furniture banks and reuse centres operating in the Czech Republic. We try to connect existing places, initiate the creation of others and take care of the development and promotion of the topic of sustainability among the general public.
Our initiative has joined existing NGOs who run reuse centres into a Federation network with an aim to enhance its co-operation and leverage their social, ecological, and economic impacts of waste prevention across the country.
We established a partnership with a more senior continuous from Norway, NYDALEN FABRIKKER, a circular hub of diverse reuse projects in Oslo, which presents an ideal way of collaboration with focus on the triple bottom line of environment, social values and economic growth. Federation will become a member of RREUSE network aiming to bring more foreign expertise to CZ.
The continuous effort of bringing added value to the Czech republic has been also financially supported by Ministry of the Environment in CZ.
The project is being supported by the Open Society Fund Prague from the Active Citizens Fund. The programme promotes citizens’ active participation in the public life and decision making and builds capacities of civil society organizations. The Active Citizens Fund is financed from the EEA and Norway Grants.
We bring together existing reuse operators, share knowledge and experience, and are inspired by examples of good practice from home and abroad.
We offer a consultation for the opening of a reuse centre in your village or town. We want sustainability to be not only an ecological but also an economic goal.
We nurture partnerships and cooperation with local and state governments and are creating a network of reuse centres and furniture banks across the country. We want more reuse in every region!
The following six organisations have embraced the vision of creating a joint federation as a larger action and creative force. They believe that promoting and spreading the idea of reuse and recycling makes significant sense for society.
The Czech Federation of Furniture Banks and Reuse Centres was established in 2021 with the aim of bringing together furniture banks and re-use centres operating in the Czech Republic, coordinating their activities, initiating their establishment and ensuring their development.
The aim of the Federation is also to show re-use and repair of old things as a very normal and common thing that helps us to fulfil sustainability and waste prevention strategies and should be encouraged.
